The Light We Carry V The Darkness We Shoulder

As one of the eldest daughters in a family of all girls, dutifully checked up on my last-born sister got me thinking through this week after checking up if dad had arrived back home (Hagen) safely. She confided in me and shared her heart with me on her progress and man, I instinctively whispered "God Steady My Heart to hold onto her firmly in her vulnerable moment"!

Started out my year with a Prayer purpose book and a year planner I usually order each year from BellaStyles and coincidentally ended my year with this book gifted to me by my mentee at Rise Empowering Purpose. God does have a way to slow you down to reflect on the journey he took you through.

To be an eldest, to do most things as a first generation in my family and to continue pursuing life- personally is not something to be boast about but to be cautious, be prayerful about, be on guard and be thankful for that season God has called you into and most of all be teachable enough to grow through this season.

This book sets off a reflective tone for me ending the year. As I read through the pages of this book, every page invoked a memory, highlighted the lesson and pointed a way forward.

There are many things I can go on about to say I am proud of but, truthfully, it's always about the one who stands at the center point navigating the way forward for me, through the cracks, the lessons, the rebukes, the NOs, the YES and Amen, the encouragements, the death of loved ones, the opportunities and experiences, it always humbles me to know that I'm only human to make it this far with God.

Each chapter of pages of my prayer journal reading through again while writing my last sentences to end 2025 as reflections, made me to realize that, to carry the light-it comes with a lot of messy moments where we navigate through our emotions, dealing with many breaking points, challenges, learning to heal and forgive without apologies or explanations and to navigate life forward with heart, discipline, standards while standing firm on your non-negotiable values.

To carry the light, and keep it shinning, to give hope, to inspire, to be the voice, to stay present in the moment, to hold space, to lead, to be teachable, to be the bigger person, to serve, to forgive and to commit to something greater than oneself, comes with so many little moments of learning, unlearning, forgiving and giving it all back to God; these little pauses, refreshes, realigns and rejuvenate your spirit and moments where you reach your breaking point but God still shoulders you through the finishing line. These little moments of pauses, reflections and silent prayers, adds fuel to enable our lights to keep burning and carrying that light.

This year I met the worst of me and the best of me, but I am blessed enough to have even a stronger Anchor (God) in my life that kept me going through my counsel of mentors he set before me.

Despite everything, blessed enough to have a Father who points his daughters to Jesus before pointing us to any mortal man because he knew the strength of his daughters will be double times as sons if he points them all to Jesus.

What a Year!

What an Experience!

What a Journey!

What a God!
